Henry Zheng is an Ontario lawyer at Cambridge LLP and a member of the firm’s Chinese Services Group. He assists individuals, families, and businesses with trusts and estates matters, civil and commercial litigation, and a broad range of legal matters affecting Chinese-speaking clients.
Raised in China, Henry studied finance and law in China, the United States, and Canada and has studied and gained legal experience across all three countries. His familiarity with different legal systems, business environments, and cultures enables him not only to analyze legal issues rigorously, but also to understand the family relationships, succession concerns, commercial interests, and long-term objectives that often shape his clients’ most important decisions.
In his civil and commercial litigation practice, Henry assists with contractual, debt-recovery, real estate, mortgage, and other business-related disputes. He is skilled at identifying the central issues within complex facts and extensive records, organizing evidence, and developing clear and workable litigation strategies. Drawing on his background in finance and advanced study of business law, Henry considers not only the legal merits of a case, but also the cost of litigation, its potential commercial impact, and the outcome that best serves the client’s actual objectives.
In his trusts and estates practice, Henry assists clients with wills, powers of attorney, estate planning, probate, and estate administration. He understands the practical challenges that commonly arise for Chinese and Chinese Canadian families—for example, when assets are located in both China and Canada, family members live in different countries, generations hold different views about the distribution of family wealth, or clients wish to provide for their loved ones while minimizing the risk of future estate disputes.
Henry studied at Nankai University School of Finance, Tsinghua University School of Law, Temple University Beasley School of Law, and the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. He holds a Bachelor of Economics in Finance, a Juris Master, and two Master of Laws degrees. He also holds the Legal Professional Qualification Certificate of the People’s Republic of China. His academic research has also been published in a business law journal.
