Jaclyn Gates is an Associate in our Estate Planning & Administration Group. She is known for her detail-oriented, client-focused approach and her ability to deliver clear, practical guidance on a wide range of estate planning and administration matters.

Jaclyn places a strong emphasis on understanding each client’s circumstances through careful review and personalized consultations, ensuring that instructions are clear and next steps are well defined. Where appropriate, she works closely with accountants, financial advisors, and business counsel to develop coordinated, well-rounded estate plans that reflect both legal and financial considerations.

She is also attuned to the deeply personal nature of estate and trust matters and is comfortable guiding clients through sensitive decisions involving family dynamics, financial planning, and long-term legacy considerations. Whether drafting tailored wills, advising executors, or addressing evolving planning needs, Jaclyn is committed to building trusted client relationships and providing thoughtful, practical solutions.

Jaclyn has been recognized in the 2026 edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch Canada for her work in Trusts & Estates. She holds the Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation from the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), a credential that reflects her proven qualifications and experience in trusts and estates law.

Jaclyn joins Cambridge LLP from a reputable Hamilton law firm, where she began as an articling student and later joined as an associate.

She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Windsor in 2018. Prior to law school, Jaclyn completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Studies, with a Minor in Global Development, at Queen’s University and spent a year studying abroad at Sciences Po Paris, Reims Campus.

Originally from a small town near London, Ontario, Jaclyn now calls Hamilton home. Outside of her practice, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, exploring the area’s food and drink scene, and travelling.
