Leonard Finegold

Senior Counsel

Leonard Finegold leads Cambridge LLP’s Construction Law Group and brings more than 35 years of focused experience in construction law.

Throughout his career, Len has advised a wide range of industry participants, including owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, architects, and engineers. His practice covers construction liens, contract drafting and negotiation, breach of trust claims, delay claims, occupational health and safety matters, and dispute resolution through mediation, arbitration, and litigation.

Leonard’s background includes senior in-house roles with major players in the construction and resource sectors. These include serving as Director of Legal & Labour Relations at Ellis-Don Construction Ltd., General Counsel to a large mechanical and electrical contractor, and Executive Legal Counsel to an international mining company during the redevelopment of a Northern Ontario site. This practical industry insight allows him to work closely with construction executives and provide pragmatic, business-minded legal advice.

He is a Founding Fellow of the Canadian College of Construction Lawyers and a former co-chair of the General Contractors Section of the Toronto Construction Association. Leonard also contributed as co-editor of A Handbook for Executives: Construction Act of Ontario, published by the Ontario General Contractors Association following the 2018-2019 amendments to the Act.
