Pooneh Sooresrafil

Pooneh Sooresrafil is an associate in the Business Litigation Group at Cambridge LLP, with a practice focused on construction litigation, real estate disputes and commercial litigation. She provides practical, business-oriented advice to individuals, businesses, contractors, owners and other participants in the construction and real estate sectors.

Pooneh represents clients in construction disputes at all levels of the construction supply chain and through all stages of the construction process. Her practice also includes real estate and pre-construction disputes, including issues arising from agreements of purchase and sale, pre-construction transactions, failed or disputed closings, and other disputes involving residential and commercial real estate.

Pooneh has appeared before Ontario courts on motions and trials and has assisted in complex civil litigation proceedings in superior courts.

In addition to her legal practice, Pooneh is actively involved in the construction and Iranian-Canadian professional communities. She regularly speaks on legal issues affecting engineers, architects, builders, contractors and property owners, including presentations to the Canadian Society of Iranian Engineers and Architects (Mohandes). Her growing involvement with construction-industry organizations provides her with a practical understanding of the legal and business issues facing participants in the sector.

Pooneh began her legal career as a legal assistant before obtaining her LLB from the University of Leicester in England in 2018 and her Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2019. She has also completed Osgoode Hall Law School’s Certificate in Construction Law.

Pooneh has a longstanding commitment to professional and community involvement. While studying in England, she participated in her university’s Pro Bono Society and, while working at a Legal Aid office, was recognized with her partner as the society’s “Best Advising Pair.” She has volunteered with organizations including the British Red Cross and University Settlement and has served as a Director of the Iranian Canadian Legal Professionals Organization in Toronto.

Fluent in English and Farsi, Pooneh regularly assists Farsi-speaking clients in understanding and navigating construction, real estate and business disputes in Ontario.
