Tim Phelan is an associate in the firm’s Litigation, Estates, and Constitutional Advocacy Groups, based in the Elliot Lake office. He maintains a broad litigation practice encompassing estate disputes, commercial litigation, personal injury matters, municipal law, class actions, and human rights—serving the diverse legal needs of Northern Ontarians.

A Northern Ontarian himself, Tim is committed to providing high-quality, accessible legal services across the region. He has appeared before the Superior Court of Justice, the Divisional Court, and the Court of Appeal for Ontario.

Tim earned a B.A. (Honours) in Political Science and History from Queen’s University in 2017, and graduated cum laude from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law in 2020 with a focus on public law. During law school, he was a founding executive member of the faculty’s chapter of Elephant in the Room, a national initiative aimed at reducing stigma surrounding mental illness in the legal profession.

Active in his community, Tim is the Past President of the Rotary Club of Elliot Lake, Treasurer of the Elliot Lake and North Shore Corporation for Business Development, and a member of the Age-Friendly Advisory Committee to the City of Elliot Lake.

Within the legal community, Tim is a former member of the Young Advocates Standing Committee of The Advocates’ Society and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Sudbury Colloquium, Northern Ontario’s premier continuing legal education conference.

Outside of work, Tim can usually be found on the golf course, ski hill, or at the curling club.
